ANTONIO LIZANA & TALLER DE MÚSICS ENSEMBLE

The Taller de Músics, in partnership with Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), has carried out an artistic residency where the saxophonist, singer and composer Antonio Lizana has worked with young talents of the Taller de Músics. The residency has created an ideal space to progress in the practice towards the fusion of jazz and flamenco, while enabling the meeting and dialogue between different generations of musicians. Antonio Lizana, with Miranda Fernández on piano, Joan Colom on guitar, Rafael Montilla on drums and Sergio Mesa on double bass, will present a repertoire made up of his own pieces, both by Lizana and the young musicians, as well as covers by established jazz and flamenco figures such as Paco de Lucía and John Coltrane.

Antonio Lizana is one of the most celebrated representatives of the new flamenco jazz from southern Spain. Jazz saxophonist, flamenco singer and composer of all his music, he has performed in numerous gigs with his band in more than 30 countries, has released four albums and has been one of the few Spanish artists to have recorded an American NPR Tiny Desk concert. Throughout his career, he has performed with artists such as Arturo O'Farrill and Alejandro Sanz in Grammy Award-winning works; he has also worked with Snarky Puppy, Marcus Miller, Chano Domínguez, Alfredo Rodríguez, Ari Hoenig, Jorge Drexler, India Martínez, Jorge Pardo, Shai Maestro, Chambao, José Mercé, Josemi Carmona, Carmen Linares and Pepe Habichuela, among others.
