David Gimeno Group is a musical proposal of the Barcelona drummer David Gimeno. It is a project that presents original compositions of instrumental music in quintet format with tenor sax, trumpet, piano, electric bass and drums. In terms of style, the music could be framed within the fusion jazz category, with influences of funk and R&B music. It is acoustically closer to the latter styles, since the electric bass and keyboards have an important role. There is also a slight experimental element in the band's sound, as the trumpet and tenor saxophone are accompanied by effects pedals. Even so, it does not stray far from jazz, since improvisation, both individual and collective, stands out at all times. Some of the inspirations and musical references of this project are the bands RH Factor, Kneebody and Butcher Brown.
