Quintessence aims to recover the repertoire by authors whom, despite having had a great influence on the 1940s and 1950s music, were eclipsed by the fame and celebrity of other artists. In this occasion we will put the magnifying glass and our ears on the saxophonist and composer Gigi Gryce. Since 1953, Gryce worked closely with Clifford Brown, Tadd Dameron, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Coleman Hawkins, Quincy Jones..., some of the most notorious talents of his time. But, unexpectedly, in 1962, after a decade of very intense musical activity, Gryce forever quit the stage.
